Famous Connections

My two 1st cousins, Ben Sullivan and Scott Sullivan,  just so happen to be the step-brothers of Cody Linley from Dancing With the Stars and Disney’s Hannah Montana.  My students freak out every time I mention this close connection.  “Oh mi gosh!  He’s sooooo hot! Have you met him?”  No, I have not met him, and I haven’t seen my cousins for … five years, perhaps, as they live in Texas.

I sat with Steve Carell’s parents, Eddie and Harriet, to celebrate the joyous occasion of my aunt’s wedding.   I must say, I think he gets his humor from his dad, and he definitely has his mom’s eyes.

In New York, my friends started to whisper in excited gasps that Armin Shimerman was standing on the corner of the street.  Of course, when I opened my mouth to say, “From Buffy?” rather loudly, he turned to look at me as he heard the familiar name and decided to dash across the busy street to avoid a harassing high school mob, about to ask for signatures.

Heathrow Airport, London: Jan 2005.  When one travels alone, she has more time to take in all of the surroundings.  She can also enjoy people watching, especially when people in the airport are  running along whispering “I think that’s John Malkovich.”  I caught a glimpse of a long plaid or tweed-like jacket and what looked like an Indiana Jones hat.  Incredibly tall, I thought “Wow, that’s him 20 ft away! Cool!”  In some instances, Heathrow airport requires passengers to board a bus which will then transfer them to the appropriate gate.  As the packed bus took a jolted turn, I stepped backwards and fell into a rather large character.  Ah yes, my apologies, Mr. Malkovich, for stepping onto your foot and probably elbowing you in the stomach.

I met Harry Connick Jr.!  A friend of a friend worked behind stage for Harry Connick Jr. and provided us with back stage tickets.  An excellent concert and short, but sweet meeting.

2001: Springfield, MA Colleen Contest   John Shea was the guest speaker at the St. Patrick’s Day mass.  John Shea a.k.a Lex Luthor from Lois and Clark: Superman Adventures.

And, last but not least, my family’s piano tuner also happens to tune the piano of  SpongeBob Squarepants‘s & Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles creator.
